Joyfully together

Joyfully together

We recently went to a homeschool conference in Atlanta, GA.  It’s always refreshing and brings new energy and inspiration not only to finish out our school year, but as a mom and wife.  God always teaches me something through this conference.  He uses these godly and humble people to bring new light to personal issues.  Most of the time its not even about homeschooling but just life in general. Sometimes it’s easy to get in an emotional funk – bogged down by self-pity, frustration with kids, feeling overwhelmed and general unhappiness with where life is.  It happens!  We know in the back of our minds that God has whatever our situation is (kids, jobs, house, money, health, etc), but we allow Satan’s lies to creep in and suddenly we are focused on ourselves and what we think we NEED right now!

Psalm 84:11 says “the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.”  So, guess what….If it’s not good for us, God is not going to give it to us – no matter what we think.  Even though this is so simple, it was such a revelation to me! We have to remember that we cannot see the whole picture, but we serve an Almighty, All-Knowing, All-Powerful God who does see it and loves us so much that He wants nothing but the best for us!

So, how do we get to that point of always seeing our situation from that vantage point?  We must stay saturated in the Word of God.  This is most important since that is the way that the King of Kings, the Creator of our very being speaks to us.  His Word is living and He is faithful to keep His promises!  He also blesses us with friendships of people who can inspire, hold us accountable and be godly examples to us.  Celebrate each other and community that God gives us!  “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up”  Ecclesiastes 4:9-10.  If you do not have a strong Christian friend that you can go to for advice or spill out problems to, seek one out.  Pray for God to send you someone.  Be inspired by those around who love the Lord their God with all their heart.  Just be careful to not compare!  Comparing will steal your joy!  And besides, no one has it all together!
