In 1920 there were 27 churches for every 10,000 Americans, and in 2010 there were 10 churches for every 10,000 Americans. In the past 100 years the number of churches in the US has increased by 50% while the population has increased by 300%. 7000 churches close every year in the US (Average of 19 a day).
The population of Sullivan County is 156,823 while only 17% (26,660) of Sullivan County attends an evangelical church, leaving over 130,000 unreached people in our county. If every evangelical church in Sullivan County filled their sanctuary, it would only hold 22% (34,501) of the population leaving over 122,000 without a church.
There are over 25,000 people within a 3 mile radius of Bloomingdale. This means only 17% (4,250) of those attend church and we would love to see this number increase. We have a heart for people who don’t have a relationship with God where we live, work and play.
